At this point, if Sade wants to reach towards some genuine values, the contradictions of his thought start to emerge through the net he casts. Though discharges and orgiastic pleasure are real, theories are unreal. This can be seen through the periodic changes of theories into discharges and through the collapse back into theory. If discharges are destructive, theory means recuperation. Therefore, a destructive theory is too demanding. It leaves the libertine without a place to which to escape. Because Sade needs his haven of theory, he has no use for moral theories. They are simply too demanding.
